David Poole and Lucy Fine: Slashstroke Dress for Excess

Dress for Excess Family Day (21 January 2017 Barbican Centre) explore the limits of taste in a day of free family workshops and activities inspired by The Vulgar: Fashion Redefined. You can use our vulgar Activity Sheet and visitor-made ‘vulgarzine’ to help you unpack the themes of the exhibition, while our series of artist workshops will let you express your inner vulgarity.

Create Shocking Shades and Bling Rings with artist Tracey Bush, step into a pop-up photo studio hosted by Slashstroke Magazine, then create and model your own Ready to Wear Sculpture couture with artists Al Johnson and Paula Varjack.

All events are drop-in on the day, with the exception of the Ready to Wear Sculpture workshops. Please sign up in advance for either for the morning (11am-12.30pm) or afternoon (2pm-3.30pm) sessions by emailing creative.learning@barbican.org.uk

Lucy Fine, Senior Lecturer in Fashion Communication & Styling and David Poole, Lecturer in Fashion and Design Styling and Promotion, are co-editors of Slashstroke Magazine.
