Scott Ramsay Kyle is a member of the Material History Research ClusterClick here to visit his Middlesex University research profile.

Scott Ramsay Kyle’s research deals with the masculine body; sexuality, re-appropriated imagery and embedding his own subjective hand work into these. With combinations of embroidery, collage, mixed media and materiality in both soft and hard form in order to depict his personal assumptions of what is deemed masculine and personal.  Always working between art and fashion, his work has been featured in many international publications including Self Service, i-D magazine, Man About Town, W Magazine, Purple Fashion, POP, Dazed, Re-Edition to name a few.  Recent collaborations with Judy Blame for his publication ‘RIOT’ Zine at the ICA London and with Henry Holland's House of Holland SS17 menswear.  Previous fashion consultancies have included V for Victoria Beckham, Martine Rose, Jaeger, Emma Cook & Hugo Boss.  His art work has been exhibited in international group shows including the Honore Visconti gallery in Paris, Toronto’s GLAAD 3rd floor gallery and in his 2017 tandem show with peer Louise Gray ‘Split The Difference’ at the Archive Gallery (Vault space) in London which he was awarded part ADRI funding to produce.

Scott has gained excellent academic experience working at several institutions in the UK.  He achieved his PGCHE from Middlesex University in 2013 and is a Senior Lecturer in BA Fashion Textiles at MDX University. He acknowledges the VARK systems of learning: Visual, Audio, Reading and Kinetic skills as well as threshold concept theory allowing his students to reflect, digest and eventually cross their own threshold of understanding, to compliment learning and flourish.  He promotes many strategies to engage the students and tailor their needs whether they arrive as surface, strategic or deep learners, engaging fully to get the most from them and vice versa, expecting challenge, discussion and independent thinking. Scott is an alumni of The Glasgow School of Art (BA Hons) and Central Saint Martin’s College of Art & Design (MA).
