Richard Paul - Still life photography as art in 2D and 3D

My research is based on an expanded concept of the photographic still life: the studio, the object, the commodity. This was originally an attempt to reconcile the pleasure I took in the challenging - if banal (and remunerative) - experience as a catalogue photographer and the critical demands of my art practice, but has led to a more comprehensive historical and ontological investigation of the still life form in art. My practice is now based around stereo (3D) photography and video, which has opened up other avenues of research such as the concept of the haptic in relation to stereo photographic perception.
