Paul Rawson

Lecturer in Fashion, Programme Leader for Fashion Design

Paul Rawson is a member of the Interiors Fashion Research Cluster.


Paul joined Middlesex University in 2012 as a Lecturer in Fashion. And is currently Acting Programme Leader for the Fashion Design Degree. Previously he has worked as a Senior Lecturer at De Montfort University and taught on other Fashion Design courses at UCA Epsom, Central Saint Martins and Northampton University.

Currently Paul is External Examiner for BA(Hons) Fashion Design and Technology Menswear and BA(Hons) Bespoke Tailoring at UAL - London College of Fashion.

After achieving a First Class Honours Degree from Northampton University, in 2007 Paul graduated with MA Womenswear from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. He worked as a pattern cutter for a number of designers including McQueen and Giles. For the last six year he has been Assistant to Stevie Stewart, working on a range of projects, developing and producing costumes for contemporary dance companies such as Michael Clark Company, Russell Maliphant and Rambert. He has also produced costumes for a number of music tours and music videos for artists such as Kylie, Britney Spears and Cheryl Cole.

As an avid attendee of the Burning Man Festival in Nevada, Paul’s research interests are focused around identity, the performance of identity and the correlation of these on and off of the ‘Playa’.
