Lecturer in Illustration

Paul Barritt is a member of the Electronic and Digital Arts Research Cluster.

Lecturer in illustration with a particular interest in traditional and digital animation. Graduated with two degrees one in philosophy and one in illustration at Middlesex University, now combining teaching with a busy freelance career working as an animator and illustrator. Currently combining animation with live performance.


2006 to present day. Working  as artistic director of 1927 theatre company

2006 to present day. Freelance Animator




2007 Award winning animated theatre show: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. This toured internationally and in the UK for two years. Playing in prestigious venues such as the Sydney Opera House.


2009  Award winning animated theatre show: The Animals and Children Took to the Streets. This also toured internationally and in the UK, playing at the National Theatre in London.


2011  Opera: The Magic Flute at the Komische Oper in Berlin. This has played in Berlin, and LA, also Duisburg and Minnesota. Set to tour to Helsinki, Madrid, Edinburgh and Melbourne.


2013 Short animated film that was shown at the Sundance Film Festival and London Short Film Festival.


2014 Golem and Krazy Kat. Premieres 2014. Both animated theatre shows. Krazy Kat will play in Germany. Golem will play in Salzburg, The Young Vic London, also Paris and Moscow and other international and national venues.


2005 – Currently teaching animation at Middlesex University.
