I was born in Milano in 1970 where I¹ve been studying and graduating in Architecture at Politecnico di Milano having been on Erasmus in Dublin at the National School of Art and Design and in Australia developing my thesis (M.Sc., 1996).
In 2010 I completed a European PhD in Interior Architecture and Exhibition Design at Politecnico di Milano.
The research attitude is the link between my academic and professional life, activities that I have always considered to be complementary.
My interest is focused on the scale, able to build (not only) physical connections in between spaces, people and objects, underlining emerging behaviours and strategies. Both my academic and professional experiences are concentrated on adaptive re-use, hospitality (temporary and residential) and retail strategy and design. I¹m interesting in an educational model able to merge practice and education on a more flexible curriculum.
I¹ve been collaborating with the Politecnico di Milano from 1998 with different tasks as researcher, supervisor and professor assistant.
I have been invited to organize workshops and have been teaching in Masters¹ degrees and Post Graduate Programmes both in Italy and abroad. I have also been an active part of the academic team with organization and networking tasks both locally and internationally. From 2005 I¹ve been appointed as Adjunct Professor at the School of Design, Politecnico di Milano, teaching Interior Design and Product Service System Design. This activity lead me to be leader of the Design Studio both in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Laboworks, is the didactic heart, expression and synthesis of the Scuola del Design del Politecnico di Milano students¹ ideas (www.laboworks.org).
I¹ve been Course Leader for the Post Graduate Programmes in Retail Design, that operates internationally by Poli.Design, which is the consortium of the Politecnico di Milano (Master in Exhibition Design - Politecnico di Milano & I.D.E.A.; Course in Brand of Territorial Systems - POLI.design; Master Course of Interior Design Management - Politecnico di Milano, POLI.design, Dipartimento Indaco, Lan Tao Culture Beijng, CIID, China Institute of Interior Design, Executive Master in Interior Design - POLI.Design, Tongji University Shanghai, Master in Interior Design - POLI.design, Scuola Politecnica di Design,...).
I have always been involved in international networks with a strong attitude in building collaboration opportunities, being persuaded that a good research output needs a strong international background that connects universities, research institutes and industry.
I¹m a member of the Ordine degli Architetti from 1998 and in the last 10 years I¹ve been founding two architecture office structures, Studiometrico till 2011 and LaboMint. LaboMint deals with interiors strategies, providing ideas and solutions to private and corporate identities; a design lab where interior is a way of thinking and research is the connection in between projects. Design is intended as a process able to generate places, both in new constructions and refurbishments, objects, products or settings. It can also be applied in writings and strategies, that are able to suggest ideas and solutions through the client¹s brief, or to suggest us opportunities that could be accomplished in the future. I¹ve been invited to present our work in various universities and our design has been published on many architecture blogs and on numerous international books and magazines.
The "bastard store" project has been published on various books and been appointed ArchDaily Building of the Year 2009 Award in the Interior category and nominee for the Architecture Golden Medal 2012 of the Triennale di Milano.
From March 2015 I'm a Senior Lecturer and the Programme Leader in Interior Architecture at Middlesex University in London.
