Prof Graeme Evans: new study commissioned by the Culture Ministry

Professor Graeme Evans has been commissioned by the Culture Ministry to investigate the role of culture in place-shaping. More specifically, the study will evidence the link between cultural infrastructure and investment and economic and social outcomes within local communities. The research  will be undertaken for the Department for Culture Media & Sport (DCMS) with the Arts Council (ACE), English Heritage and other cultural agencies over the next 3 months under the CASE (Culture Evidence) programme, and be undertaken by a team including the New Economics Foundation (NEF) and TBR (Trends Business Research). The study builds on research undertaken by Graeme and TBR for the DCMS in 2010 The Art of the Possible and his earlier work which set the standard for measuring the contribution of culture to regeneration (Culture at the Heart of Regeneration). Graeme will lead on the literature, synthesis and conceptual framework for the study.
