Graeme Evans appointed expert: the future of Venice Arsenale

Professor Graeme Evans has been appointed an expert adviser to the Municipality of Venice on the redevelopment and future of the Arsenale site. This extraordinary historic XIIth century complex of over 30 maritime buildings covers nearly 50 hectares and over 30,000 square metres of building space. It was for at least four centuries the western world's greatest production site and the secret source of the Venetian maritime power and a fundamental part of the city's legendary status. Today the site hosts the famous Venice Biennale, residual naval and maritime science activities, with the plan to develop the remaining site as a creative hub and community.

Graeme will be presenting and participating in an experts and stakeholder workshop, organised by the City of Venice in partnership with Nai Global Italia, for developing insights and scenarios suitable to a thorough and comprehensive urban regeneration programme with the aim of rejuvenating and relaunching the ancient Venice Arsenale.
