Dr John Dack presents at the 8th European Music Analysis Conference

Dr John Dack, Senior Lecturer in Music and Technology, will present a paper at the 8th European Music Analysis Conference (EuroMAC) in Leuven, Belgium. This biennial conference takes place on 17-20 September and attracts theorists, analysts and musicologists from the worldwide academic community. John Dack was invited to join the session ‘De l’analyse à l’écoute de la musique électroacoustique’ organized by the Société Française d’Analyse Musicale. His paper entitled ‘Listening to plastic and musical languages in Pierre Henry’s “Variations pour une porte et un soupir”’ will explore the various listening strategies demanded of the listener when confronted with sounds that can (with difficulty) be included within a traditional musical framework and sounds that defy inclusion within such a system.
