Prof Paul Haywood's project GUNS TO GOODS is hosting a one-day seminar and conversation about the role of the arts and cultural activism in promoting social cohesion and peace.

Collected stories from activists, artists and others about non-violent resolution in the face of conflict, confrontation and injustices within contemporary society. 

 

The day will bring together speakers from diverse organisations, initiated by activists or artists, whose purpose has been peace and civil freedoms.

Speakers include:

  • Erinma Bell (Manchester peace activist and co-founder of CARISMA)
  • Karen Lyons (Artist and co-founder of Guns to Goods)
  • Nick Mirzeoff (Professor at New York Steinhardt University and Middlesex University and activist with Black Lives Matter)
  • Ruth Daniel (Director of In Place of War and academic and researcher at Manchester University).
