Andy Gossett is a member of the Electronic and Digital Arts Research Cluster.

 

Created "sonicFonts" (sound reactive typography) using the visual programming language Quartz Composer for his MA in Design for Interactive Media. He has recently completed the Creative Programming for Digital Media & Mobile Apps course (using the open source code enviroment Processing). He is currently researching into code based generative graphic design; the tactile nature of reading; Quantum Literature on mobile devices and is developing a code based series of digital prints for the Al-Mutanabbi Street Coalition these will be donated to the Iraq National Library in Baghdad. Two copies will join exhibits in the U.S. One copy will go to the UK (and be used as part of exhibits there and Europe, the Middle East and North Africa). One copy (in 2016) will join work from the project at the Herron ArtLibrary (Indiana - Purdue University) and be digitized by them, becoming part of their permanent collection of work from this project.

Andy is fascinated by all forms of typography from molten lead to digital ink. He founded the Astonish Me Press, is a D&AD Award winning letterpress artist/printer. He co-founded the design practice studioGossett which specialises in the design and production of art books and exhibition catalogues and before that he was a partner in Omnific Studios with Derek Birdsall RDI and Alan Kitching RDI.

He has designed and produced books for artists and galleries around the world including Anna Maria Pacheko at the National Gallery, London, Anthony Caro at the Serpentine Gallery and the Kunstmuseum Dusseldorf, Futurism and Photography at the Estorick, London, most recently working on a number of books with Lund Humphries the latest being the monograph for Colin Reid: “Colin Reid Glass Sculpture” which explores the work of internationally renowned contemporary glass artist Colin Reid.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Juror for the International Society of Typographic Designers.
